Nafis
Emran |
| I live in Australia. I was going to do
LASIK in Sydney. Then I thought I might as well do it in Bangladesh as
my parents live there. At first to be honest I was totally confused, but
with the help of Lasik Sight Center doctors and their support, I finally
decided to do the operation. And they did a fantastic job. I am a happy
patient now. |

S.A.Morshed |
| LASIK, the most precious gift of my
life. I have never seen so perfect before. I am really very very happy
now. I never expected that one day I'll see so good with my high myopic
eye. But, LASIK changed my vision, my life. |
|
Shikon |
| My vision has changed since I had my
operation done. I can see everything much better than before. I heard
about LASIK before but was afraid as I have heard there were few risks.
But thanks to the Almighty Allah and thanks to my doctor. I have not
faced any problem yet. Thanks to the Lasik Sight Center. This operation
will help me to build my career in Marine. So again thanks to all the
staffs of Lasik Sight Center |

| I am Hossain Sabbir and had qualified
both in written and viba in the Malaysian Marine exam but could not get
medical fitness due to refractive error. I then called on to Lasik Sight
Center's surgeon for Lasik. |

Frequently Asked
Questions
:: |
| |
|
>> What is LASIK
Vision Correction? How dose it work ?
|
| LASIK
(Laser Assisted in-situ Keraromileusis) corrects vision by
reshaping the cornea (in front central circular transparent
area in the outer surface of the eye), so that the light
focuses more precisely on the retina, thereby eliminating
glasses and contact lenses |
| |
|
>> Is LASIK
right for everyone? |
| |
| Only
an eye care professional can determine whether or not an
individual is eligible for LASIK treatment. In general, a
good LASIK candidate is at least 18 years old, has healthy
corneas, and has maintained a stable eye prescription for
the last 12 months. And also a final verdict can be given
after Pre-Lasik tests by your LASIK Surgeon |
| |
|
>> How safe is LASIK
and what are the risks? |
| |
|
This is an
extremely safe and accurate procedure. In U.S.
clinical trials the results concluded were
|
| |
|
|
Improved natural and
uncorrected vision |
|
No vision threatening
complications occurred |
| |
Fewer than
1% of patients who have received LASIK to date have
experienced some mentionable problems. Most LASIK
complications can be treated and usually resolve within
several months of surgery.
There are no known cases of blindness resulting from LASIK |
| |
|
|
About
risks, it all depends what one means by risk. 95% of all
LASIK patients are straightaway extremely happy with their
vision. But a small number of people may take a little
longer time for complete healing, few may have infection
though the chance is extremely remote as antibiotic drops
are used from the beginning. Results may be a little up or
down for some people. In that case a second procedure, if
needed at all, that can be done after a few months but again
that is free of charge. Overall the patient is always happy.
Although
no one knows the exact number of complications, studies
suggest that the incidence of minor difficulties such as
temporary dry eyes and night time glare is around 3% to 5%
from combined LASIK and PRK procedures. Some other minor
complications include --------halos, dry eyes, infection
One thing
must be remembered nobody can get blind with this
procedure which is the core question of all prospective
patients |
| |
|
>>
Is LASIK
painful ? |
| |
| No,
the procedure is painless, however, most people
experience 4-6 hours of mild irritation after their LASIK
procedure |
|
>>
How long does the procedure take? |
| |
|
The laser treatment itself usually takes less
than a minute, while the entire procedure takes around 10
minutes per eye. |
| |
|
>>
How long must people wait to resume normal activities after
LASIK ?
|
| |
|
In most cases people can return to work
within 1-3 days following LASIK surgery |
| |
|
>>
What are the restrictions after LASIK |
| |
|
Cannot rub the eyes for 6
weeks |
|
No swimming for 4 weeks |
|
Cannot splash water in the
eyes for a week |
| |
|
>>
Will a person's vision remain stable long after the
procedure ? |
| |
|
The vision correction is permanent. Excimer
Laser vision correction have been prevalent in many
countries around the world since 1980. Many clinical studies
have investigated the long term effects of excimer laser on
the eye and have concluded that there is no long term effect
on the integrity of the eye. |
